1. Summary: Bend It like Beckham is a film about race, gender, and ethnicity. 18-year old Jesminder also called Jess is a british indian girl who lives in London. ike most everyone else in England, Jess idolizes professional British football player David Beckham and she really wants to play like him. For Jess, that means kicking a ball around the local park with the lads until she's spotted by Jules, who invites her to join the local women's football team.Jess is different from most fans; she's a talented player in her own right. Unfortunately, her traditional Indian parents have other plans for their youngest daughter and wouldn't allow her to wear shorts. They expect Jess to follow in the footsteps of her sister, Pinky, who is preparing to marry in a traditional Indian wedding. Their plans for her are to study law to. Afterall she starting her own dream and begins to play, and keeping her participation a secret from her parents and often leading to disastrous results. To complicate matters even more, Jess and Jules both are enamored with their coach, Joe. And It seems like Joe likes Jess back. In the end of the film a talent scout spotted Jess and Jules in the final match and he offered them a great education and a chance to play in a international woman football team. Her family must decide whether to let her chase her dream, and they did. 2. Characteristic of a person: Jess' dad Mr. Bamrah is a lovely person, who cares about Jess and her future.
