Introduction

Working with gun/firearms law in America is difficult because they are often changed I succeeded in finding the most present gun law in New York. The law is from January 2001-present and is a synopsis of state laws on purchase, possession and carrying of firearms. The following sections are an extract of the synopsis.

The second amendment

The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that protects a right to keep and bear arms. “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” was written over two hundred years ago and was approved by the congress, 27 words whose meaning has been debated since it was published. Every word has been analyzed by some of the world’s best educated authors, history professors and lawyers, and the meaning of the second amendment can be a hundred different things.
