The conflict about football between Jess and her family.
Jess is not allowed to play football by her parents. Her Mum says that in India young girls do not show their legs to guys. And also they want Jess to focus on the sister’s wedding instead of playing football. This is hard for Jess because she feels that football is her entire life and she wants to be a pro just like her hero, David Beckham. He is like an obsession to her and her whole room is filled up with pictures of him and Manchester United shirts with the name Beckham and number seven on the back. All she wants to do is just play football all the time and it does not make things better that the family finds out that the coach of her football team is a man. A man who Jess later on falls in love with.
From Jess’ point of view: Jess would like to be what she sees as a normal girl without her Mum and the rest of her family telling her what is wrong and what is right. Just to be able to be like all the English girls. She would love to go and play football in the park or in the football club without having to sneak her way out of the house
