-The theme is in the story what a white man experience in a village in India. And also he can adhere to the rules. It is very hard to live somewhere where you do not feel welcome. also that if you are different than the others and they do not accept you the way you are, I think. The writer knew what the people in the story what they would do and how they would behave, so “the writer knew all things”
The story takes place in a small village in India.
Characterization:
Lee: Lee is from England. He has a girlfriend he also would like to marry some day. Lee's girlfriend has been marrid before and has a child. Lee loves biscuits, like with lemon, chocolate and coconut. He is one of the many lost depending on cigarettes. Lee is a big man with big soft hands and feet. He cannot put itself in the bay as criminal and cannot understand the arrest, and he has been duped. I think most Crimean general only really see their error, when it is too late!..
Punjee: is Lee's interpreter and it is not until the end of the story to find out which side Punjee is. President and Punjee are good friends and gives details on payment to the police. In the beginning is otherwise convinced that Lee and Punjee are friends, as he tells of life inside and the various traditions and rules they have.
