Similarities and differences between my lifestyle and an Amish lifestyle
Now that I’ve read about the Amish, for more than a month I have learned a lot about the Amish; who they are, what they do, what norms they have etc.
Personally I don’t like the Amish lifestyle, because their lifestyle is very old fashioned, they have no modern technology such as cars, instead they use horses and drive in buggies, they live very isolated from the outside world, and their freedom is very limited. I think the “Rumspringer” season, is ethic wrong, because they defy their own rules, by doing all these things.
The Amish lifestyle, compared to our lifestyle looks very different, but there are some similarities.
Here are some similarities between an Amish life and my life. The Amish people go to church like we do, they follow the Christian religion. They marry each other, but mostly with an Amish, they get baptized but only when they are grownups (anabaptized). They usually have good family relationships, like I do. They go to school but it’s only until 8th grade.
I see some benefits of being Amish too; they gain a very strong relationship with their family and their few friends. They help each other out. No violence at all. No stress. The risk of getting killed is less. They pollute less.
