Denne opgave analyserer konceptet 'The American Dream' gennem forskellige perspektiver. Den diskuterer Arnold Schwarzeneggers syn på hårdt arbejde og muligheder, Anya Kamenetz' kritik af drømmens bæredygtighed, og David Wallechinskys spørgsmål om dens overlevelse. The American Dream started as a dream for the hard struggling workers in America, who wanted their lives to be better, richer and full of happiness. Not just for themselves, but for everyone. Through time the meaning of The American Dream changed a lot, today is the American Dream a life in luxury with no work to think about. In this paper I will write about The American Dream from out of 4 texts.

In text 2, Arnold Schwarzenegger tells about how he decided to travel away from his native country to get a piece of The America Dream. He knew America was the place to go, if he wanted his dreams to come true. According to him everyone can achieve The America Dream, but not back leaned. You have to do something, showing that you really want it. If you do, the Americans will be generous and welcoming to help you succeed your wildest imaginations. He explains that through the time of the existence of American, many Americans have died for their country and what it stands for. He mentions the Civil War and World War II, where lots of American soldiers fought for their country and its safety. Arnold means that the Americans are very pleased with their country and that they will be pleasured having immigrants moving to America, to get at part of the American Dream, but not if they are not willing to give something back. He means that everyone who wants the best of America has to say to themselves: “What can I do for this country?” Instead of “What can this country do for me?”
