Dear listeners, dear friends from all over Europe, on behalf of my class I want to thank you for this opportunity to talk to you. I have chosen to talk about climate change. I would like to start my speech with a quote from Lenny Henry, who is a British comedian. “The global warming scenario is pretty grim. I’m not sure I like the idea of polar bears under a palm tree”. This is maybe impossible for somebody to find realistic and I can understand that. But it might be realistic in twenty years, if we don’t do something about the greenhouse effect. The ocean is rising and the weather is getting wormer every year. The ocean will at one point reach the coast and flood the countries. Our houses and property will be spread in all directions and we will no longer have a home. Is that what we want for our children and their children, to loose their home because we were selfish?
“Our generation has inherited an incredibly beautiful world from our parents and their parents. It is in our hands whether our children and their children inherit the same world”. It is our responsible to maintain the world as beautiful like it is. If we don’t think about the future then who will? We have to do what is best for our future and that is our offspring.
