One of the scenes at the opening credits shows two water fountains, one of them a bit more modern and new, this one got a sign above saying “white” while the older and worse fountain got a sign saying coloured”. A little black boy appears to drink, and automatically drinks from the worse fountain, without even wondering why he has to drink from that one. There is also a burning building which is probably a church or school for black people, KKK has made yet another move against the “niggers”.

What is the plot (very short description)?

Two FBI agents with very different styles of working arrive in Mississippi to investigate the disappearance of three civil-right workers.

What is the connection to the real events? (Use the internet)

This DID happen back then. The blacks were treated like animals. For example a black man had to sit all the way back in a bus, then if a white man entered the bus and there were no more seats, the black man had to stand up to give the white man his seat, just cause of the difference in their skin colour. There were toilets for only black people, barber shops and restaurants with “Only white” signs. In those restaurants they could even enter, they had to sit all the way back in the room, again.
