What is Twitter?
Twitter is social networking site. A social network is a social structure made of individuals or organizations, which are connected by one or more common interests. Twitter allows people to share information about themselves anytime, anywhere.
I was and still am very sceptical about Twitter as a social networking site. Why would anyone be interested in being updated on what someone else is doing at all times? For example would you want to know what cereal your friend or colleague chose to eat this morning or which program he or she is watching on the television at this moment?
I always thought that Twitter was just a Facebook “status update” kind of thing. However Twitter is also a mass text-messaging service where it allows you to send updates, also called “tweets” to all your
followers on twitter.com. You can read and write updates on your telephone and online. Twitter has in fact become so popular that a lot of non-tweeters are starting to feel left out, especially in America.
