Family Matters

Light and dark, small and big, fine and coarse, young and old are the words that first came to my mind when I saw the picture. The picture can be viewed and interpreted in many ways and I will try to explain some of what I'm thinking. This picture makes me think of the differences between people. The differences between, the rich and the poor, blacks and whites, the young and the old. I will start with young and old. I think the image illustrates the difference between being young and old because there is the hand of a little baby and the hand of an adult which also, to me, symbolizes family or, that you have someone to rely on when you are a little baby. But it’s also important that the adults have someone to hold on to so they do not completely forget their childhood. It’s important for families to harmonize well together and the adult understand the small ones expressions and needs. I think the picture shows or symbolizes the support and comfort we get when we are small and (nearly) always get from our parents. It’s a beautiful picture because it makes us think about ourselves. It makes me think about the differences that exist in people and how children around the world are being treated.
