We have a lot of deferent traditions connected with Christmas. For me the Christmas means cosiness, to give and get presents, a lot of food, candy and so on.
But if people ask me why I celebrate Christmas I sometimes have some problems answer it. Most of the times I just answer that it’s because it’s Jesus birthday and because it’s a tradition in my family.
One of the traditions we have in my family is that we decorate the house on the 1. December. We use the whole day on cosiness and relaxing. The whole family sits around the table and clips Christmas decorations and decorates whit goblins and candles everywhere in the house. I love that day.
On Sunday it’s the first Advent. That’s the day where my grandmother and grandfather visit us. Then we make an Advent wreath and some chocolates and oatmeal balls (a Danish kind of candy).
Every year you hear about that the Christmas-shopping has beaten its limits. We use millions of crones on presents to each other every year. And sometimes I ask my self if that’s the way the Christmas was intended to be celebrated. In former times they just gave each other small presents. It didn’t really matter how much they had paid for the presents. But if we look beyond materialism and into what matters most about the holiday we can see what is more important, our family! Whether we have a whole lot of money or not, we do things to make our closed happy. We appreciate others around us and regularly perform acts of kindness toward our friends and family.
