Initiation
I chose London's history because I like London and think it would be cool to learn something more about it. In the beginning I would have taken London's sights, but I know already from the five times I've been in London. Also, there is much more to write about than the other subject. And I hope that I will learn a lot of new things about London's history.
Year 0 A.D. – 1000 A.D.
London is these days one of the world's most known city in the world, but not many people are aware that the history of London starts with an roman invasion in the year 43 A.D. At that time it was just a minor roman military storage depot during the invasion of Britain. The spot chosen for the depot were ideally located as a trading centre with the other part of the Europe continent. Because of this spot it soon developed into an important port.
In 61 A.D. it had already become the headquarters of the Procurator, who is the official in charge of the finances of the Roman Britain. That year the HQ were burned to the ground by the Iceni’s, a native British tribe living in Easy Anglia. This was a bloody revolt against roman rule. Almost 40 years later it was rebuilt. By that time the city name Londinium appeared for the first time. It quickly became both the provincial capital and the administrative, commercial, and financial centre of Roman Britain.
