9/11-angrebene på World Trade Center

The World Trade Center was a complex in Lower Manhattan in New York City. There were over 50.000 people working in the towers every day and over 200.000 visitors and tourists. It was built in the period from 1966.1973. It consisted of 7 buildings, where the two most well known was Twin towers with the height of 415 meters. On the morning of September 11 ,2001 between 8.48-9.06, Al-Qaeda-related hijackers flew two 767 jets into the buildingcomplex, one into each tower, in a coordinated suicide attack. After burning for 56 minutes, the South Tower collapsed, followed a half-hour later by the North Tower. With the attacks on the World Trade Center resulting in 2,750 deaths. Only 20 of the 2750 people, were found alive under the ruins of World Trade Center. Everybody didn’t just died in the collapse of WTC. Many people chose to smash the windows and jumped into their death. Many people was chocked and a fireman was 5 meters from getting killed by a “jumper”. The process of cleanup and recovery at the World Trade Center site took eight months. The new World Trade Center, also known as Freedom Tower, shall replace The Twin Towers and is designed by Daniel Libeskind. It is planned to be 1776 feet high, which is a symbolic hight. The year of 1776 is the year where The United States Declaration of Independence was declared.
