The story is called ’Sin Bin or Lucy’s heart’. It’s a story about a girl, Lucy, who has an identity problem. The story line takes place on her a school in the Sin Bin which is the nick name of the detention room. So it’s not like a fantasy or imaginary world where funny, strange and extraordinary things live. It’s just a normal environment with neighborhoods, schools and a lot of public transport as usual. Well, there are no aspects in the text which are pointing at the opposite. The story could appear in the modern time. It’s maybe around year 2000. Lucy’s mother is very careful for what Lucy eats and I think that it is characteristic for newer time.

There are only two places of action. During most of the story Lucy is sitting in the Sin Bin, and we get her thoughts, we get to know what’s she’s does and so on. And in the end of the story when the detention is over she leaves the room. The other physical setting in the text is described as ‘the chilling heat of the early summer evening’.

The setting of the ‘Sin Bin’ is the main setting. It’s a very intense environment. But I think that you have to read between the lines to get the information. Well, people are there for one reason. They have done something wrong.
