Living on the street is not as hard as people think. Or, well I was born as a homeless girl so I don’t really know how it is to get a hot meal every day, how it is to sleep in a nice comfortable bed or take a nice hot shower every day. It’s become a habit. But I am not complaining. We are many children that stick together, and take care of each other. We are 9 homeless children sleeping and eating together every day on the dump. Each day we go out on the street and beg for money. We almost always get enough money so that we all can eat enough to be full rest of the day and night. We don’t really miss anything, but sometimes at night when I can’t sleep I think of how nice it could be to have a real home. There is just one thing I miss. My parents. I almost don’t even remember them. All I remember is that every day, the first I heard was my mom saying that she loved me more than anything else in the whole world. I was only 5 years old when I got lost at a train station down town. And look at me now, 16 years and living on my own, almost. I wish my parents could see me now. I think that they would be really happy to see that I have learned to take care of myself. I’m actually really proud of myself. I remember one time when I got us all each a piece of cake and a little piece of bread from the local bakery. Let’s just say I was like a hero for a day. Well that was my story.
