'Street Boy' story summary

The story is about an orphan boy, who lives in a tunnel in South Africa, his only kind of family is an old thief he call him for his “father”. The boys’ most important thing he owns was a record as he listens to every day, but one day his father broke it, it was now the nightmare began for the boy. He would do everything to find the same record in the shop so he could steal it. He had a very big problem because he couldn´t read, so every time took a record it was the wrong one. One day found he the right record, but he was also busted for stealing. He got a penalty, were he should be reformatory for six months. Now his father was angry on him, because it not was food but records he stole. One day the boy left his father, because he had sold the gramophone and it was the boys’ whole life to listen to music, it was the beginning of a new life. The boy got a job, where he should wash the elephant’s feet’s in a circus. He arrives for the first time in his life to Cape Town, and it was also his first time to see the water. He got some new jobs in Cape Town, and he was indifferent about to have a home, where he could sleep. If there doesn´t were a house where he may sleep, he just sleep in a corridor. Just as he thought that this new town doesn´t had reformatory, and he tried to steal a bus conductor´s money, he was arrested. In this reformatory he should made fishing nets to the fish train, and he got that idea, when the train leaving Cape Town and will arrives to Johannesburg, would he hide himself in the train. There was just one problem the train was full of ice, so it was very dangerous to take with the train. He took the train, and the journey lasted 18 hours. When the train stopped at the last station, the boys´ fingers were frozen stuck to the ice. There came 2 police men´s and saw the boy, they were surprised over, that the little boy sat in the train full of ice, and that he could take the long trip on thousand miles. The police men tried to help him, but they don´t know what they could do, because if they use fire on the boys´ fingers he will get frostbite. So one of them jump over the boy and gave him a pull, so the boy lost her nail on his little finger and there drips blood form it. Now the police men talks to the boy, so they could find out where the boy came from. And it end with that they suggested the boy, which he was a case to the social workers, but he objected. His is now eleven and he don´t know what he should do, he doesn´t care, just he isn´t home again.
