The paper analyses the use of poetry through “Into the Wild” and examines possible post-modern techniques. The paper discusses how Chris McCandless’ hatred to the society and his parents is revealed. By giving his entire savings to charity and abandon all his possessions after graduating college Chris decided hitchhiking to Alaske to live in the wilderness. Parallels are drawn to examine the use of post-modern techniques and it is demonstrated that there are some similarities with Pulp Fictions use of narrative techniques. The use of poetry is investigated through analyses of which role poetry obtains through the film to gain a higher understanding. The correlation between “Into the Wild’s” use of poetry and Chris MacCandless hatred to the society and parents is analyzed and discussed and it is concluded that his hatred is expressed throughout poetry.
