Beasts of the Southern Wild: filmresumé og analyse

Six year old Hushpuppy and her single dad Wink, lives in an area located in Mississippi called The Bathtub. The Bathtub is physically isolated from the rest of the world. Hushpuppy’s farther Wink and the other adults knows that The Bathtub is under threat of being submerged if a big storm hits or with the climate change melting the ice caps resulting in a rising sea level, but Wink, like most other adults in The Bathtub refuse to leave regardless. Wink and Hushpuppy have a unique relationship, and despite loving each other most conversations turn into arguments. They are living in an old overgrown property in two separate houses. So they basically sleep, eat, and spend most of their time separated. Hushpuppy has a combination of fantasized outlooks on her life. Such as the way she views her absent biological mother solely from stories told by Wink, her farther. Hushpuppy has no remembrance of her mother what so ever. Same goes to the thoughts of aurochs getting released from the melting ice caps, that got told to her by her teacher Miss Bathsheba.

As feared a big storm hits and Wink, Hushpuppy and rest of the people who wanted to stay have to find out how to survive. What eventually happens is affected by a secret Wink is keeping from Hushpuppy.
