'The Full Monty', filmanalyse

The Full Monty is taking place in Sheffield. The beating heart of Britain’s industrial north. The main characters name is Gary Schofield, but among his friends he goes by the name Gaz. The steel mill that they were working at has been closed, and they no longer have a job. Gaz and his friends are unemployed people, and they are having a hard time finding a new job. Desperate to make some money Gaz and his best friend Dave Horsefall goes to the old steel mill trying to steal a steel beam to get some money. When that attempt also becomes a failure, they are talking about what they can do to make some money. Gaz gets informed that his ex-wife might want to do court actions against him because he cannot pay the child support anymore. Gaz and Dave come up with a new idea. They want to be dancers. So now they are going to recruit more men for their show. The first one to join them is Lomper. He was a security guard at the steel mill. After going through some interviews and in some cases some persuasion as well, Gerald Arthur Cooper, Barrington ‘Horse’ Mitchell and Guy join them as well. They keep on practicing, but at come through a lot of trouble on their way to success. At one point the police come to the abandoned factory where they practice. The police steps in while the men are almost naked. Guy and Lomper successfully escape and actually found out that they like each other. The rest of the strippers got caught, but they all got released again when the police saw the surveillance tapes. On top of that Gaz's ex-wife shows up at the station to take Gaz’s son Nathan with her, and afterwards she and her new boyfriend take out a court order against Gaz, so he no longer can see his own son. At this point they are all broken down and don’t know what to do. They no longer believe in success from their show. Until the owner of a pub informs Gaz that he has already sold 200 tickets for their show. After some discussions they all finally decided to go for it for one night. Gaz’s ex-wife is among the audience as well. Nathan also show up and is the actually reason why Gaz wants to do the show. They go on the stage and they made a successfully show.
