Plot summary of the movie 'Australia'

The movie “Australia” revolves around the two main characters, Lady Sarah Ashley who’s played by Nicole Kidman and The Drover, played by Hugh Jackman. Lady Ashley is an English aristocrat who inherits a cattle station in Australia. She travels to Australia with the intention of selling the cattle station “Faraway Downs”. Upon her arrival, Lady Ashley is met by The Drover at the airport, send by husband to collect her and send her to “Faraway Downs”.

At the same time, Nullah, a boy with an aboriginal mother and a white father, is fishing with his grandfather, King George also known as “Guilpa” and “magic man” – by Nullah. As they are fishing, King George spots some cattle being moved illegally from Faraway Downs onto the King Carney’s land. Nullah is asked to hide in the river and not long after the husband of Lady Ashley is murdered and dumped in the river, landing on top of Nullah. At the arrival at Faraway Downs, Lady Ashley discovers the murder of her husband. She befriends Nullah who tells her that her administrator Neil Fletcher is stealing her cattle and is involved in the murder of her husband. She fires Neil and his men. With help from the Drover and her loyal employees, is Lady Ashley determined to supply the army with cattle and embarks on journey across the Australian outback. However, an army Captain named Emmet Dutton signs a contract to purchase King Carney’s cattle but the contract is not valid until the cattle has been loaded onto the ship. Lady Ashley beats Neil Fletcher to it and the contract is therefore hers. Lady Ashley decides to keep Faraway Downs and offers the Drover a position as manager at the ranch but he declines.
