There I sat, in Joe’s bar, smoking a cigarette. I felt like someone was watching me. What a stupid thought, why would anyone be watching me? Maybe it was just imagination. Then I looked into the mirror at the other side of the bar. What I saw in the mirror made me scared. Don’t understand me wrong, I am not that ugly, but behind me, outside the bar, there was standing a man. He was watching me. Then I started thinking.. Why would a man be watching me? Maybe he was in love with me? No, I don’t think so. So I lit another cigarette. After I had finished smoking it I went to the bathroom. I looked for a window big enough for me to climb out. Luckily I found one. I made it outside and looked around. No people on the street. So I started walking towards the bus stop, always looking over my shoulder if someone was following me. No one did, so I sat down at the bus stop and relaxed. After five minutes the bus arrived. I bought a ticket and sat down. When I arrived at the next stop I went out. I walked towards my house when I realized that something wasn’t like it used to be. Everything was quiet and I couldn’t see any of my neighbours. When I went upstairs to open the door I realised what was wrong; someone had broke up the door. I went inside and saw that all my paintings and vases had been stolen. All my drawers had been searched, it was one big mess. When I went to check my safe, I saw it had been broken and it was empty. Suddenly I heard footsteps in the hall and hid behind the wall. A man walked in, it was the one who had watched me outside the bar. He didn’t see me and walked into the kitchen. I slowly walked outside and started running. I ran down the street, I ran until I couldn’t run anymore. I sat down on the grass, when I saw that the man was following me. I stood up and ran into the forest. The forest is big and dark, not a place I normally go to, but I had to find a place to hide before the man caught me. I started running again, but I could hear him behind me, so I speeded up. I reached the end of the forest and looked around. There wasn’t a possible hiding place near me, so I had to keep on running. The problem was that I was getting tired and I could hear the man getting closer to me. I turned around and saw him 20 meters behind me. He had stopped running and was slowly walking towards me. Some people are just sick stalkers. I had to found a way to get rid of him. After a short time of thinking I pulled my gun out of my purse and aimed at the man’s chest. I could see that he wasn’t prepared for that and stopped walking. He raised his arms to his head and said: “Please, don’t shoot, I have to talk to you.” You should have gone home my friend. I wasn’t going to talk to him, so I started walking backwards. He didn’t follow me; I think he was too scared. Of course I wasn’t going to talk to the police so I went home and started cleaning up my house. When I took out the trash I saw a car parked at the end of the street. Inside there was sitting a man, but it wasn’t the same man. Maybe he was scared and they had sent another, who knows? I went back inside and sat down next to a window from which I was able to see him. I got surprised when he started his car. When I thought he was going to drive home I was wrong. He parked outside of my house and rang the doorbell. I didn’t answer it so he rang again, and again, and again until I lost my patience and opened the door. “What do you want?” I asked. “I’m sorry to disturb you madam, but I have to take you to the police station.” He took me to the car and drove me away. Why would he take me to the police station? That was weird. I was allowed to sit in the front, so I hadn’t done anything wrong. When we arrived to the police station he took me into his office. “Do you know this man?” he asked and shoved me a picture. Of course I did, it was that moron who had followed me earlier. The officer told me that the man was a psychopathic rapist who had just escaped from jail. I should have shot that bastard. The officer told me to be careful and he drove me home. I couldn’t sleep that night, I was afraid. When it was 4 o’clock in the morning I went to bed and tried to get some sleep. I was just sleeping when I heard a noise coming from outside. I went up to check. What I saw made me panic; the psychopath was standing in front of my door and trying to break it. In his hands he had a bat; I think he was here to kill me. I took a deep breath and went downstairs and stood there waiting for him. When he managed to break the door he walked inside with a smile on his face. When he saw me it disappeared. He dropped the bat and started to talk, but I wouldn’t listen. I shot him right in the head.
