Roberta poured some wine in the glass and brought it to the living room. The chair she sat in was covered by a white sheet. The flat was to be painted, but she had never completed her painting project. She had started painting back when her husband Angelo lived with her in London. Unfortunately Angelo had been offered a job in Milan, involving fashion. The famous artist Rober Delaune had hired Angelo as his personal assistant. He was designing a purse for a major brand. Now Roberta lived all alone in London, while her husband was nearly 600 miles away.
The wine she was drinking was Italian, and she enjoyed every sip she took. She glanced around in the apartment and thought to herself how much she missed Angelo. They had met at a fashion show only a week after she had divorced her ex-husband Joe Porter. She was devastated by the fact that he had left her with just a note saying ‘Goodbye, it’s over!’. He was such a cold pig. But she had gone to the fashion show and gotten herself extremely drunk, and Angelo had been the one to take care of her when she needed it the most. It had been like a fairy tale love story, their first kiss in the rain outside in the middle of his porch. He was her prince on the white horse. Looking back everything seemed perfect, but sitting here alone in the cold, half-painted apartment made her think twice. Was having a lovely husband that great, when he was never even home? Seeing her situation from the outside, it may have seemed like she had it all. A great flat with a priceless view over London, a great and caring husband, a fancy car, basically all happiness achieved through materials. But she was nearly devastated by the thought of being alone in eternity.
