East Is East In the first scene of “East is East”, we're introduced to the children, who are at a Christian parade. Their mother runs up to them, and tells them their father is just up the road watching the parade. The children then promptly run behind a block of houses to hide from their father, indicating there is some secrecy surrounding the children and their father. It is already established here, that the children and their mother are keeping secrets from the father, who would perhaps disapprove of the children's participation in the parade.
