While watching the movie “East is East”, please take notes to the following:

Describe the father, George.He is shouting a lot and he uses violence. He is a muslim and from Pakistan

Describe the mother, Ella.She is not a muslim, and she is from England. She is protecting the kids from George.

Describe the relationship between Ella and George throughout the movie.They are not suiting each other very well. They are also from two different cultures, so it is kind of hard to their relationship

Describe Ella’s relationship with her kids.It is good, and she is a lot milder to them than their father George.

Describe George’s relationship with his kids. It is not very good, because he is always angry at them, and want them to follow the Pakistani traditions. The kids are not happy about that.

Analyse the setting. It is kind of a middle-class environment, with small apartments.

How does it affect the children that they are children of a culturally mixed marriage?It is creating a lot of controversy in the family, because the different cultures have different values. The children want to live the same way as the British people, and not after the way whom George told them.
