Can parents who have different religions, bring up children together?

When a Muslim and a Christian have a relationship is it primarily important to have one common religion, so if the couple has decided to be Muslims shall they get married at an imam, and then they can get children. But if they have different religion is the situation not the same. If you see it on the Islamic perspective are the things special. The Quran says that the father and the mother have equal status. But the Quran don’t say that the parents can hurt their children.

The question is very difficult, because if one of them is fanatic Muslim and the other one is fanatic Christian they will have problems with a lot of things, like which religion their children should go after, but they will also be agreed in some point, like no sex before marriage, no alcohol etc.

If one of them is liberal Muslim, and the other is liberal Christian, will the couple have less problems with bring up children, because of that their positions are like each other in many point
