Cal has always felt alone in his family consisting of his brother Aron and his father Adam.
Cal’s family is strictly Christian and since Cal is ‘’bad’’ he doesn't get the recognition from
his Father he wants. Adam has always told Cal and Aron that their mother died, but when Cal
goes to Monterey to party he discovers his mother alive and well, being the hostess of a bar.
Cal tells Adam about his discovery and Adam doesn't deny the fact about Cal’s mother being
alive. Adam bets his money on a risky business idea and loses it all. Cal thinks that working
to get Adam’s money back, can get him the recognition from Adam he desperately wants but
instead, he gets outshined by Aron who engaged Abra. Cal and Aron get into an argument
where Cal exposes the truth about their mother. The argument leads to Aron into a downward
spiral that ends with him joining the war.
