What do you think Jess means then she says ”stealing a glance”?

I think what she means then she says “stealing a glance is that she looks at him in secret, because it’s important that no-one sees her then she looks at him like that. Because if they suspect that she loves him, she won’t have a chance to play football ever again.

What does Jess think about Joe?

What Jess thinks about Joe is that she likes him, because she thinks that he really understand how she feels all the time, but she know that her parents would never let her date a boy who isn’t Indian. She also thinks that he is a brilliant coach.

How good are her chances of playing on the team? How good will they be if her parents suspect her feelings for Joe?

Her chances of playing on the team aren’t good at all, because her parents don’t like her playing football. Her mum doesn’t think that football is a girl-thing, and she want Jess to grow up and be an ordinary Indian woman, who can cook. Her dad was once a sports man, but got kicked out, because he was Indian, and he don’t want the same thing to happen to Jess. If they knew about her feelings for Joe they would never let her be on the team, or see him, because they won’t let her boyfriend be a boy who is not Indian.
