The Guildford Four were a group of innocent people that were falsely accused for having bombed an English pub in Guildford 1975. The case about the bombing was taking very seriously, because soldiers and civilian people were staying there at the time. They were imprisoned for over 15 years. The members of the group are named Paul Hill, Gerry Conlon, Patrick Armstrong (also known as Paddy) and Carole Richardson. Gerry Conlon is the victim you follow in the movie "In the Name of the Father". He was born and raised in Belfast, and was a real troublemaker. When he grew up, he went to London in August 1974 to get control over his life, and to work, but he went back to Belfast 19th October of the same year. The 30th of November, in the middle of the night, he got arrested. The police interrogated him for three days; they tortured him to get a confession! He ended up with signing a false confession that stated that he bombed the pub in England. He went to prison for more than 15 years, and while he was in prison, he saw his father die. When he got out of the prison he would clean his father’s name, because his father also was innocent, but imprisoned, suspected for making bombes. Today Gerry Conlon lives alone, trying to forget the past, but he still think about everything that happened back in 1974. Where ever he goes he still smell his father burning, like he did in the prison, he still lives back in the terrible time, and he once said to a newspaper that he felt better in prison, than he do now when he’s free.
