Nelson Mandela was born on July 18th 1918 in a little village in the wild South Africa in a city called Xhosa.
He was brought up to be a adviser for the lokal king.
But he ran away to the large city Jonnesburg where he got an education to lawyer.
Growing up in South Africa under the Apartheid system of government was not funny for black people.
Because the white people looked down at them, and they havent any fridom.
But Nelson Mandela fighted for the fridom Instead of bowing down to that unjust system of government.
In 1944 he became a member of ANC which was the african National Congress.
Only five years later mandela was a leader.
He started a lot of demostrasions and stof like that but they were never violent.
In 1962 he was arrested for leaving the country illegally and for incitement to strike and he got five years in prison.
Two years later Mandela was found guilty on four charges of sabotage and he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
In 1990 de Klerk announces that Mandela would be released.
He was now 71 years old and has spent the past 27 years in custody.
