Nelson Mandela’s life and impact on South Africa Nelson Mandela was born 18th July 1918. He was born on a farm in a little town called “Qunu”, which is a small tribe in a region called “Transkei”, where he also grew up with his mom, dad and 12 brothers and sisters. When Mandela was 7 he was the first boy in his family to go to school, where his teacher gave him the name “Nelson”. When Mandela was nine his father died of tuberculosis. In a age of 16 Mandela went Clarkebury Boarding Institute, where he was reading about culture
