Cool Running’s is a movie about a Jamaican man, named Derice, who is a 100-meter runner. In his tryout he falls and loses his chance of competing in the Olympics. He decides to create a Jamaican bob sled team with his best friend Sanka. In the beginning they find it very difficult to find a team, but at last they find two guys named Yul and Junior. They also manage to find a coach. Suddenly they realizes how hard it is to start the sled and how to steer it. But just before they travel to the Olympics, they are about to learn it. When they get to the Olympics everyone laughs at them and makes jokes. Their first run didn’t go very well. But the second run went very well. They went up in an eighth place. In their last run the sled collapsed, and they crashed. They ended up carrying the sled over the finish line, proud and happy.
Pride
When they get to the Olympics, everyone laughs at them, and think that they don’t even have a chance. Derice wants to prove, that Jamaicans can bob sled. He wants to win. But pride is not something you get when you win, pride is something you get when you are satisfied. And those four guys seems pretty satisfied, even though they lose. Their goal was to win, but they didn’t. But in the end that doesn’t matter. As their coach said in the beginning of the movie, the big thing about the Olympics is the whole thing. Not to win or anything. Even though they lose, it’s an amazing thing, that they even get to the Olympics. I would be proud if I was one of them.
