The red truck

The short story is about a elderly man called Fintan. His younger girlfriend tricks him into going to visit his mother and clear out things because his mother is moving. While he is clearing his old room, he finds a red truck. The red truck reminds him of his 6th birthday. The red truck was his best present and he used to play with it every single day. One day he woke up and noticed that the red truck wasn´t where he used to put it every time he was going to sleep. He figured out that his brother took it after searching all around the house. He was so angry. At the end of that summer when he was six, Fintan carried lunch to some working men. He found his little red truck on the way home and hid it in his old wardrobe, and now as a grown adult he will not admit he was wrong back then and tell his mother that he found it in one of his brother´s boxes.

2. Fintan is an elderly man nearly 50 years, who always falls in love with pretty young women. All his girlfriends have been in their late 20s and they have all taken an art school education. He has a time problem, and therefore he doesn't have a job. He has always stupidly believed that the years would progress slowly, and that he would have no pension. People have told him to get a job and start acting his age, but he will not face the reality of anything. People also say to him that he should get the pension so he can live on it when he becomes too old to work. He behaves as if he is afraid to put himself in a bad light, so that his cruel brothers might have one more thing to tease him with. He is a bit immature because he will not admit that he lost the truck himself and apologize to his brothers. He behaves like a toddler. All his childhood, his brothers teased and bullied him
