The story “Red truck” is a short story by Maria Behan. It’s about a man called Fintan who is just about one month to turn fifty. Fintan thought he and Sylvia were going to the planetarium, but it was a set-up by Sylvia and Fintans mother. They were driving home to his mother, so he could cart of his stuff. His mother had sold the house because she was poor and then have to live with her sister, and his brother had done it months ago. While his was throwing stuff out did he found a dinky truck from his sixth birthday. One day the truck wasn’t parked in its usual spot on his bedside table so he got furious and searched the house, broke a dish, stamped and went stiff as a corpse. Last time he saw his truck was when his was moving out for good after college.

Characterize Fintan (165 words)

Fintan was afraid and lonely as a child. He got bullied by his brother and the father is the leader of the house. Fintan respect his father, even though the father didn’t show up to his birthday. He got the truck, and that’s what helps him in the nightmare his is living. He fined space with the truck. When the truck disappears he gets furious and gets a rage against his brother. They took his only toy away from him, and the only way they can get him to calm down is by calling the father/leader and the father’s attention is enough to get him down.
