Letter from a soldier

I really hope you receive this letter, course I have put a lot of

thoughts to it.

The reason why I am writing this letter to you is because I need to

“talk” to someone, ore at least get my emotions and thoughts down

on paper, and I know I can trust you.

When I boarded the airplane with all of the other soldiers it was

very obvious that we were all scared to death and look Pete, it’s not

every day you see a large group of grown up men shaking every

part of their body. I feel a bit embarrassed telling you this, but I

was pretty scared myself.

Even though we knew it was going to be a really long flight, none of

us talked to each other. I think part of the reason why we didn’t talk

was because we all were a little intimidated by the situation, but

also because we were frightened to make friends and to get too

know each other emotionally - we knew we weren’t all going to

make it back in one peace.

We were going to England, but I wasn’t sure exactly where our base

position was.
