Yes, I am definitely a computer game nerd. I play all kinds of games, but in this assignment I would like to describe two of them, and explain why I like them so much. The first game I play is Battlefield. Battlefield is an amazing game but is also takes a lot from a computer to run it. Battlefield is a first person shooter or FPS for short. That means you look out of the eyes of your character (in this game, a soldier). You can customize your soldier in anyway you can imagine, from skin color to camouflage. Also you can customize your weapon. Since it is a game in which teamwork is very important you get to make a class. You can choose between assault, engineer, recon or support. I choose to be recon or support. That it because you as a recon has to lay miles from the battlefield with a powerful, long-range sniper rifle, and cover your teammates. I like to play support because you get a LMG and a lot of bullets; your job then, is to cover your friends by shooting 800rpm at your enemy, forcing them to find cover. So in this game there are a lot of different play styles. I will explain the one that I play the most, demolition. In a demolition game your objective is to plant a bomb at the enemy´s spawn point and protect it for one minute until it detonates at your team win. You have to do this while preventing your enemy from doing the same to you. In this game, teamwork is very important, and a microphone is a good thing to have for communication with your teammates. It’s not a single player game. You play it online with 7-23 other players. I don’t spend a lot of time on it now that I started on a new school. But before I played it very often. Like in many other games you can advance in Battlefield and gain powerful rewards like weapon attachments or more ammunition. You can even get a helicopter or a jet driven plane. In battlefield there is a maximum level of 80. And when you have advanced through all 80 levels you should have all possible weapons, know how to master a 20.000 pound tank, how to safely fly the most advanced aircrafts in the world. Even though it’s just in a game, it gives the player some sort of satisfaction. The other game I play is World of Warcraft or wow for short. In this game you have to run around and get quest from quest givers and turn them back in after completing them, each time you complete a quest you get a small amount of experience. And when you have enough experience you get a level. In wow you can get to a maximum of level 90. I really love this game particular because a lot of my friends from my new school play it too. That means I can be social with my friends while playing it. It’s not something a play alone, its what you call an MMORPG. And that is exactly what wow is. So I basically play with nearly 11 million players worldwide, well, not at once of course. Also in this game, cooperation is very important. Especially when you go raiding. A raid is a big dungeon where there are a lot of NPC’s and a few bosses. In this game type you have to kill everything on your way. But the NPC´s are strong and the bosses even stronger, so you have to be 25-man in a group. The 25-man group can be parted into five groups with each one tank, three DPS´s and one healer. This is a very strong team, which is able to clear the whole dungeon fast and without problems if everyone do their best and work together. In the game you can play different races like a human, a dwarf or a gnome on the alliance side. Or an ogre, a troll or a tauran. You can also play different classes, like a mage, a hunter, a warrior or a priest. There are a lot more classes and races, and more and more are getting developed every year. You can also focus on professions. There are different types of professions, primary and secondary. The secondary ones are first aid, archeology, fishing and cooking. The primary professions can be split into two. Crafting professions and gather professions. The gather professions are mining, herbalism and skinning. The crafting professions are blacksmithing, alchemy and leatherworking. You can learn a maximum of two primary professions but you can learn all the secondary ones. With these professions you can create armor or weapons, which can be sold to other players. So this game is a world inside the game. I think that is why many people gets addicted or just attracted to these video games, and become, so called “nerds”. I personally love it.
