Information about the Blitz
In the summer of 1940, Hitler decided to invade England. His plan was to take control of the English Channel by destroying the Royal Air force and then to send German troops into England to take control. The Blitz attack was based on retaliation from the earlier English air raid made over Berlin. The main target was London the capital, but later on, the Germans began to bomb small historical English cities too, for a bigger revenge. In 1944 Hitler used more technological ways and launched his secret “Vengeance” - The V1 rocket. But the bombs were still badly and only 30% of the bombs founded a target. But sooner Hitler made the V2 rocket. The rocket was more powerful and advanced than the old V1. The Blitz ended up with a lot of kills and 2 million were made homeless because their houses were destroyed or ruined.
The Shelters
There were a lot of shelters in England. But the biggest Shelters were the Anderson Shelter, the Morrison and the public brick shelters. The Anderson shelter was a strong shelter made in the garden. It was buried half into the garden, and in case of bombing, the family crowd could crawl into the tube. The Morrison shelter was a steel framed shelter that was placed in the house. The Morrison shelter was meant to be used as a place you could sleep safely at night. The public brick shelter was not very popular because sometimes people had to go a long way to get to the public shelters. The shelters also broke easily.
