The New Girl- Aline´s Journey and The First Day, have some of the same operation parameters. In all the stories we follow negro- children, we get an impression of their childhood, how they encounter a new and frightening world.
In The New little Girl, the little negro boy encounters the world full of racism, he has never before encountered so much hatred, he doesn´t know how to handle it. He is just a child, he does not understand why the new girls mother speak and treats differently to him than the other kids, when they are mean to the little girl.
In the story he is looking back, when he regretting how I picked side and not wanting to play with the little girl, he feel bad about it and sorry for the little girl, deep down he wishing that he have reacted differently. The story includes the theme Loss of innocence; when the little boy has never been mean to anyone, but that day he was “racict” to the little new girl without realizing it.
In Aline´s Journey she encounters how harsh the real world is by traveling to new country by boat. She realizes that the parents fail to keep up the secure world, when the policeman grabs the father on the beach and puts rubber handcuffs on they have to go to prison.
