The point with this assignment is to figure out whether it’s true that there’s an increasing inequality in the Danish society. Inequality can be seen in many different perspectives. In this assignment my main focus will be about the economic inequality. I will use some empiric investigations to illustrate this.

I will look at how the development in the economic inequality has been for a number of years.

First of all I’ll look into what difference there is if you calculate the inequality from the income you have before your capital is included.

Here it shows that there hasn’t been a rising in the inequality; rather there has been a drop during the past 14 years.

Then I’ll look into what role the capital plays.

When the capital is with counted, we see another picture; an increased inequality.

When I look into the differences in the lifetime income in proportion to the level of education, it’s obvious that it can pay off in the long run to study for a long time seen from an economic aspect.

Some of the initiatives the Danish government has established to reduce the inequality e.g. the maximum for the cash benefit and the tax stop shows that it have the opposite effect.
