Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jeane Mortenson, 1. June 1926 at the Los Angeles County Hospital. She was an American actress, model, singer and a major sex symbol. She got married the first time with Jim Dougherty, when she was 16 years old. She got married the second time when she just had gotten her big breakthrough "Gentlemen prefer blondes" with Joe di Maggio. She got married the last time with Laurence Oliver, and they went on honeymoon to England to record "The prince and the showgirl". In the period 1950-60 she was the biggest star in Hollywood. In 1945 a photographer took a snapshot of Marilyn, and she became a sucessful model. By the end of 1946 her hair had become blond, and her name was chanced to Marilyn Monroe. All of her marriages ended in divorce, and she never got any children. Her mothers name was Gladys Pearl Baker, and her dads name was Martin Edward Mortenson. Before she chanced her name to Marilyn Monroe, it was also chanced to Norma Jeane Baker. Her father leaved the family, so she had never knowed him. She worked closely with Lee Strasberg at The Actor’s Studio who referred to her as one of the two students out of “hundreds and hundreds”. Today we want high models, but in the sixties it wasn't the same. Marilyn was only 166 cm, and all the men loved her. Her successful modeling career brought her to the attention of Ben Lyon, a 20th Century Fox executive, who arranged a screen test for her.
