William Blake was born on 28th November 1757 in Soho in London. He left school at the age of ten and went onto attend the Henry Pars Drawing Academy for five years. Blake first started writing poetry at the age of twelve, despite his talents for poetry, he went on to becoming a painter, but Blake had difficulties in financing this so he got an apprenticeship as an engraver. After six years as an apprentice engraver he went on and joined the Royal Academy of Art. When William Blake had completed his years at the Royal Academy of Art he went onto marrying Catherine Boucher in1782.
Blake was an English poet, painter, and printmaker. He wasn’t recognised for his talents during his time. Although now, Blake is considered as a legend within the history of poetry and visual arts during the romantic era. His poetry has been said to be the most impressive work ever in the history of the English language, as for his visual arts are concerned he is believed to produce the best works Britain had ever seen, William Blake died at the age of sixty-nine in 1827 and even though his surname died along with him, his legacy will be known, as a sufficient and great man of many artistic talents who will flourish the following centuries to come, with his magnificent pieces of work. One of the most approved works of poetry is “Songs of innocence and of Experience”.
