The Six-Day War was fought between June 5 and 10, 1967, by Israel and the United Arab Republic, which included Egypt, Jordan and Syria. The war started by Israel launching surprise bombing raids against Egypt. The reason why they launched the bomb raids was that Israel believed that it was only a matter of time before the three Arab states coordinated a massive attack on Israel. The reason why the three Arab states should coordinate a massive attack on Israel was because there had been a lot of tensions between them for a long time. The War was initiated by General Moshe Dayan, the Israeli’s Defense Minister. Israel had bombed all the military airports, so the United Arab Republic couldn’t respond by bombing Israel. Then it all just turned into a war on land where the Israeli could just bomb The United Arab Republic’s soldiers. They didn’t have a chance!
The war ended with Israeli victory, even though they only had 264000 troops against 547000 troops. The war ended with Israeli only having 100 000 of the troops deployed compared to the massive number of 240 000 deployed troops from United Arab Republic. It was a very good tactic Israel had and they really deserved to win the war. The things that had changed after the war was that Israel captured the Gaza Strip and The Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, The West Bank (including East Jerusalem) from Jordan, and Golan Heights from Syria.
