A tsunami is a wave in the sea formed by undersea earthquakes. The earthquake shakes the seabed and makes a huge kind of movement in the water. As opposed to a regular wave, which appears in the uppermost layer of the ocean, but the tsunami wave is found throughout the water column, which can be thousand of meters out of to sea.
