Tornadoer: dannelse, klassifikation og udbredelse

Tornadoes are believed to occur with very strong winds, hot wind, cold wind, dry wind. When a wind high up in the air meets a small wind from the surface, there will come very strong winds, and the wind will start to rotate. When it happens in a thundershower, the hot wind from the thundershower is ascending up, and the wind will rotate in an upright position.

Tornadoes are classified by the Fujita tornado scale in categories F0-F5. F5 is the strongest and most dangerous Tornadoes. There are no tornadoes in Denmark, but a smaller kind of them, called waters spout. They are at F0 or F1.

The place where most of the tornadoes are occurring, are in the middle of USA, in “The Great Plain”. Tornadoes are appearing most in these states Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. All these states are also called the “Tornado Alley” The Tornado season is from March to June, where May is the time where most of the Tornadoes are occurring.

USA is getting around 1200 tornadoes every year. The most terrible Tornado was at the 18th March 1925, there were 625 dead, and 2027 injuries. The tornado went through Missouri, Illinois and Indiana.
