Under The Taliban

I really really need you right now! You can’t imagine how scared and terrified I am. A few months ago, maybe 4-5 months, this movement called The Taliban raised. It’s so awful Lucy! They’ve come to take charge and you can’t imagine how our society looks like right now. They’ve forbidden a lot of stuff. Us, women, we are not allowed to wear any make-up, white shoes and nail varnish, only this thing called a burqa. It’s a material where you are covered from top to toe. Even your eyes are covered. We can’t even go to the cinema anymore and we are not allowed to study or have a job.. the only thing we can do right now, is to sit on the streets and beg for money to rescue our selves.

But that’s not all. If you think that was bad, then wait till you hear this. My good friend Bibi, who is only 12 years old, used to go to school, hang out with her friends and do lots of funny stuff, but about three weeks ago her HUSBAND, and yes you read that right, her husband covered her nose and ears in acid. I can’t imagine how much pain she must have felt in that moment. Some has told me, that she screamed and screamed and her tears were falling down her chin one after another, but her husband didn’t care at all. He just left her at home. He raped her, burned her and he even forced her to sleep in the stable with the animals. Well there’s more. After her husband left her, she hurried to cover her face and injuries and ran as fast as she could over to her uncle Aabdul-Aleem, I don’t think you know him. But anyway, can you guess what her uncle did? He refused to help her. I was speechless when I heard it. Her uncle! He is family to her. But luckily a major from Air Force saw her and found medical help. A woman, also from Air Force, nursed her and showed kindness. If she needed it they would hold her hand. God, I’m so glad that we have some human people with feelings and conscience, who are ready to help us. Imagine if they weren’t here.
