The text is about how this genetic engineering is slowly becoming a bigger part of the daily talk, and how some of the British people are feeling about the fact that we are getting closer and closer to being able to “play God” in the way that we might be able to regulate hair colour in an unborn child, or decide the sex of the baby etc. The scientists who are currently working on the research of these stem cells, are doing a lot of progress, and that they are currently waiting for approval from the Human fertilisation and Embryology Authority so that they can start making these combinations of human cells and animal cells, so that the embryo will be about 99,9 % human and 0,1 % animal, so that they can see how the genes react to the varies of genetic disabilities. At last, we are told about the fears of this research and the techniques used, and that it may lead to the fact that humans will start designing their unborn child’s personality etc.

Assignment 2. My own opinion on the subject

Well in my opinion, I can’t really see the big problem with human's research on this subject. I think that it’s okay to get further and expand our knowledge, and as long as the animals are kept unharmed, no problem. I couldn’t possibly imagine that there will be any harm done to the embryo, and that anything would affect the childhood or even so, the life of the embryo. I would say that, the people who are against this, or maybe have fears about genetic engineering are maybe imagining the worst case scenario... some kind of a mix between a human and an animal!
