Analysis of Sonnet XXX by Edna. St Vincent Millay Her first examples are that it is not “meat nor drink”. By saying this Millay is conceding that a person can’t live on love alone. A person has to have food and water for the body to survive and love cannot replace that. The next examples are that love is not “slumber nor a roof against the rain”. By saying this she is stating that love can’t replace the requirement of sleep and rest that the human body needs. Love won’t keep one safe out of the rain. Love can’t replace
