Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King, was born on January 15, 1929 in the state Georgia, located in the USA.  Martin grew up in a secure and good environment. He was very lucky to grow up in such an  environment, because many people, especially black people, were not so fortunate. The  main reason Martin grew up in such a good environment, was because his father, Martin  Luther King, Sr, was a Baptist pastor. Therefore his family was more respected than  others, and more wealthy. His father was also a missionary and the early leader in the  American Civil Rights Movement.    Martin entered public school at the age of 5. When Martin turned 12 his grandmother died  of a heart attack. The event was so traumatic for Martin that he tried to kill himself by  jumping out of a second story window.  Later when Martin attended Booker T. Washington High School, he got great grades and  he was told he was a precocious student. He was so good in fact, he skipped both ninth  and eleventh grade, and he entered Morehouse College in Atlanta at age 15. He was very  popular student, and many girls liked him.     When Martin finish the College, he went on working on his doctorate. He also met a girl,  named Coretta Scott. She was a singer and a musician. They got married in June 1953,  and together they had four children. Martin luther king III, Dexter, Scott and Bernice.   In 1954 Martin became pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church of Montgomery,  Alabama. He also completed his Ph.D and was awarded with his degree in 1955. By this  time Martin was only 25 years old.    Martin made himself popular when in 1955 a woman named Rosa Parks, refused to give  her seat up to a white person on a bus. Rosa got arrested, and was guilty, and she was  fined 10$ and 4$ for court fees. On the night Rosa got arrested E.D Nixon, head of the  local NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) met with  Martin. Together they planned to do a citywide bus boycott. Martin was elected as the  leader of the boycott, because he was young, well trained and he had good family contacts.  The boycott was very successful, and Martin planned, and did other demonstrations. But  Martins demonstrations was different from other demonstrations. Martin believed in  nonviolence demonstrations, and this got him very popular.
