I checked the sky for signs of rain and set off early to make the most of the day. I had packed my bag with a few necessities - a bite to eat, a bottle of water and heaps of curiosity about what the day would bring.I was taking a day off in New York, because I needed to do something different than just sitting all day long in my office. I love New York, it’s like one of those cities where you don’t even need to know anyone to feel home. I lived in the middle of the city. There are skyscrapers everywhere cabs everywhere and lots of happy people. Of course there were a lot of loud noises there, but somehow it was really nice. I loved it. And I love the fact that, I just could yell out loud, if I wanted too, and even if I did, no one would care. Everything is awesome here, almost. One of the things there is not very nice, is all the people there are homeless. It breaks my heart to see them, without anything in the world. I really wish I could do something for those people. But then again, what could I do?In many days I’ve really wanted to give something back, back to those people who don’t really have the same things as me. I have a house, I can eat whenever I want to, I don’t really need anything.I walked past a lot of homeless people, one of them looked special through my eyes. It was a woman with her little girl. I sat down for a while, and talked to her. She was very kind and sweet.I handed her 100 dollars, and she was freaking out, she actually started crying, of course it was tears of joy. I followed the woman, but she didn’t know. I wanted to see, what she did with the money. She went to a grocery store, I was hiding behind a car because it’d be a little awkward, if she saw me. She came out, with lots of bags filled with food and stuff. I followed her down the street, and saw something I didn’t expect at all. She was giving the food, to other homeless people. That was so merciful, and at the moment I almost started crying. At the end of the day, I still felt bad for the homeless, but it has been a nice day. Somehow I have learned, that it’s important to care about people, and not to be scared of the homeless ones. Maybe I’ll start caring more, and maybe tomorrow I’ll learn something new again.
