One of the reasons can be because moles live under the ground just like the mole people, and therefore they are called the mole people. There are also two reasons for the mole people living under ground. The first reason is because it is more safe and warmer underground than on the streets. The second reason is because some of the mole people are hiding from abusive family members.

One of the reasons mole people survive is because it is really hard to starve in New York. It may sound odd. Hard to starve? Well, many restaurants throw the leftovers of the day out, which creates a great opportunity for the homeless people; they eat the leftovers right from the trash. Another reason can be that there also are fresh water pips in some tunnels and some others there are also electricity, because of the power cables. The people from above can actually not visit the mole people because they are not allowed to visit their home. The MTA tries to make sure that the mentally ill homeless people don’t get hurt, for example getting hit by a train.

The mole people do actually get help from National Alliance to End homelessness. The mole people moved into the tunnels after they discovered it in 1980s. The reasons are mentioned in answer A.
