“You can have all the gun control laws in the country, but if you don't enforce them, people are going to find a way to protect themselves. We need to recognize that bad people are doing bad things with these weapons. It's not the law-abiding citizens; it's not the person who uses it as a hobby.” said Michael Steele, an American politician who was born on October 19, 1958.
“Yes, people pull the trigger - but guns are the instrument of death. Gun control is necessary, and delay means more death and horror.” said Eliot Spitzer, a political commentator and Democratic Party politician, who was born on born June 10, 1959.
Outline of the two articles
In the last decades there have been many different ideas about guns and gun control, and many articles were written about gun control. Henry Porter and James Q. Wilson wrote about it too. Henry Porter is a British journalist who writes for The Guardian, and James Q. Wilson is public policy teacher, an author and writes for LA Times.
They show different attitudes to guns.
Guns are instrument of deaths. Many Americans say that guns are used in name of self-defence. There are many people who believe that the way a gun is used depends on its owner: Someone uses it in a good way, to defend themselves, and someone uses it with criminal or suicides purposes. In Afghanistan, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and the FBI the number killed by firearms, including suicides, since 1968 is 1384171, which is more than the person who were killed in battle.
